Work with me

Three ways to work together, and what each one actually involves. Availability is the same in all three: remote, from Kathmandu, on your hours.

Available full-time, part-time or on contract, remote.

Three ways in

01

Embedded on your team

You have a live product and a small team, and you need someone who will still be here in year three.

Features shipped release after release by someone who knows why the last three decisions were made, and no handover cliff when they are.

  • Feature work across the stack: React, React Native, Laravel, Vue.js, PostgreSQL and MySQL
  • Maintenance that is planned rather than deferred: upgrades, dependency and platform changes
  • Code review, conventions and the kind of documentation that survives contact with a deadline
  • Working directly with whoever owns the product, not through a layer

02

App owner, web or mobile

You need one person to architect, design and ship an application end to end, and to keep owning its releases.

A product that ships on a cadence, on the web or in both app stores, without a hand-off between the person who designed it and the person who built it.

  • System design and interface design as one decision, not two
  • React and React Native builds, iOS and Android from one codebase
  • Store releases, versioning and the unglamorous parts of shipping
  • Integrations where they earn their place: notifications, analytics, payments, auth

03

Design to build

You have a brief but no designer, or a Figma file and nobody to build it faithfully.

An interface designed and shipped by the same person, so what survives the build is what was intended.

  • UI and UX design, wireframes and prototypes in Figma
  • Front-end build in React, Vue.js or Astro, responsive and accessible by default
  • Design systems small enough that a team will actually keep to them
  • WordPress, WooCommerce or Shopify when the content model is the real requirement

Shape of the engagement

Full-time
A remote engineer on your team, working US or Australian hours.
Part-time
A fixed number of days a week, ongoing, when you need the capacity but not a new headcount.
Contract
A scoped build or an embedded engagement with a defined end.

Working together

UTC+5:45
My morning covers Sydney afternoons; my evening covers US mornings, and the West Coast from about 8pm my time.
Async first
Written updates, pull requests and recorded demos by default. Calls when they save a day rather than fill one.
Contracting
USD invoicing as an individual contractor, IP assignment signed by me, NDA on request.

What to put in a first email

  • What you are building or hiring for
  • The stack, and anything already in it that cannot change
  • Your time zone and the hours you need covered
  • Timeline, and whether this is full-time, part-time or contract
